Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said on Monday that Iran has developed nuclear technology as a national industry and will never overlook its rights to civilian nuclear technology. In a meeting with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, the he said that abandoning nuclear technology for civilian purpose is Iran's red line and that Iran-EU accord on the nuclear program has been made in line with Iranian red line. "The Americans and the western powers know for certain that Iran never goes after acquiring nuclear arms. The propaganda against Iranian nuclear program aims to force Iran to abandon nuclear technology which has become a national industry in Iran," Khamenei was quoted as saying by IRNA. His comments came as the U.N. nuclear watchdog agency passed a resolution Monday on policing Iran's commitment to freeze all programs linked to uranium enrichment in an effort to defuse a dispute that had threatened to go to the Security Council.
