A car bomb explosion on the Turkey/Syria border [2] has left at least ten people dead with a further 30 wounded, according to the local mayor.
The blast happened after a Syrian-registered car arrived at the Cilvegozu border crossing [3] in the Turkish province of Hatay.
The attack came just three weeks after Patriot missile defense equipment arrived in Turkey [4], following fears that the ongoing violence in Syria could spill over the border.
"We don't know whether this was a suicide bomb or whether a car that was smuggling petrol across the border blew up," a Turkish official said, speaking to Reuters news agency.
According to local media reports, the Syrian opposition are currently in control of the area [5] over the other side of the Turkish border crossing.
