Syrian intelligence PR defects, according to reports

The head public relations for the feared Syrian intelligence service, announces his defection to Al Jazeera.

The head of public relations for the Syrian [2] intelligence, Alaeddin al-Sabbagh, announced his defection to Al Jazeera on Sunday.

The PR official said he had been in contact with the rebels [3] for some time and told the Qatar-based news network that Assad's regime was a "clinically dead" one.

Al-Sabbagh also claimed he was serving the opposition while still working in government for the regime.
