Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has spoken with his French counterpart, Jacques Chirac, to discuss the Iraqi crisis.
Chirac phoned Assad on Tuesday night, SANA news agency reported Wednesday.
The two leaders "examined the Iraqi question and the Franco-German initiative that aims to avoid a military strike on Iraq and reinforce the work of UN inspectors by giving them more time to achieve disarmament," the agency said. They agreed to "continue ... coordination" over Iraq. (Albawaba.com)
