Six Senses Zighy Bay, Horizons Nouveaux and AlMarsa Musandam are delighted to announce the launch of the first Tented CampExperience in Musandam, Oman.
Each partner is totally committed to supporting and protecting the environmentand this pioneering project is entirely eco friendly. There are three differentcamps, set in remote areas of stunning natural beauty, deep in the heart of theMusandam Peninsula; one on the coast of the Gulf of Oman, one high on a rockyplateau, virtually touching the stars and one nestled into the wadi.
Guests can experience the absolute silence and wonder of these spectacularlands, whilst enjoying the depth of comfort and level of luxury which Six Sensesis famous for and being sure in the knowledge that no trace of their stay willbe left behind to tarnish it. No footprint will be left.
The Musandam Peninsula belongs to the Sultanate of Oman and has been home to SixSenses Zighy Bay for the last two years. It is a land of deep valleys, highflat mountains and clear, cool 'fjords'. Guests are welcomed to Zighy Bay fora night or two before travelling to the first of the camps.
Each camp offers a different, unique, experience and not only with thelandscape. The tents themselves include teepees, bell tents and blue monoliths, created by Horizons Nouveaux for this unique event. The food and drinks, designed by Six Senses Zighy Bay's Executive Chef, follow Six Senses Slow Lifephilosophy, of locally grown, fresh ingredients. Breads are bought from localbakers, fish caught daily from the gulf and fruit and vegetables from thenearest farms. The menus are inspired by indigenous dishes. As the black ofnight descends and the air grows cool in the camp, dinner is served under thestars, accompanied by gentle Omani drumming or lute playing, or perhaps adisplay of sword fighting.
Each day offers epic adventures. Trips 1,200 meters above sea level to thevillage of Akag Al Asoo, with its terraced fields and wild flowers; or to WadiAl Bih to see it's abundance of petrogliphs; a boat trip around the gulf ofOman; a challenging hike across wadis and small settlements; kayaking tours andwonderful snorkeling. All this before arriving at the next camp, to be led up apath lit by flaming torches and to your luxurious tent and an ice cold drink.
Three nights and days of wonder and delight later and guests return to Zighy Bayand its Six Senses Spa to relax.
The Tented Camps of Oman will be available between October 2010 through to theSpring 2011.
