Two suspects involved in last year's deadly Sinai resort bombings and an Egyptian police officer were killed in an operation in the north of the peninsula, police said.
Mohammed Salah Felifal and Hamada Gomaan were killed in a "police operation on Saturday" a police source said, adding that one police officer, Magdi Mohammed Diab, was also killed in the operation.
According to AFP, the fugitives had found refuge in the mountainous, Bedouin areas of Sinai, where access is difficult, and had been hunted by police for several weeks.
The search commenced again on Friday after a day of calm. Police said that the suspects have been surrounded since Tuesday.
The suspects belong to a small group loyal to the Palestinian and Egyptian bombers who perished outside the Hilton, the authorities claimed.
