Turkey has arrested 153 illegal migrants who were trying to sneak into neighboring Greece, a report said Monday. Paramilitary police detained the migrants in several operations Sunday and Monday in the province of Edirne, which borders Greece and Bulgaria, the Anatolia news agency reported, cited by SPA.
The migrants were from several Asian and Middle Eastern countries. Most did not have passports or other forms of identity, the agency said.
Turkey is a transit point for thousands of illegal migrants from Asia and the Middle East to the western part of Europe each year. (Albawaba.com)
