Welcare Hospital announced today its participation in several breast cancer awareness and screening activities designed to give women in Dubai valuable information about the disease which affects 1.1 million women around the world every year.
One of the main events is the 12-day Welcare Breast Cancer Screening Clinic being held for the sixth year in a row at BurJuman between September 20 and October 2. This free clinic is available to all women and is staffed by the hospital’s specialist healthcare providers.
“From the day we opened our doors in Dubai, Welcare has been committed to care, both of our patients and of the wider community in which we operate. As medical practitioners, we know that a holistic care program, from prevention to early diagnosis to latest treatment options, offers the best way forward. Therefore, we have made a long-term commitment to supporting breast cancer awareness in Dubai and the UAE,” said Dr. Rosalie Sant, specialist in obstetrics & gynaecology.
Welcare also is sponsoring the Pink Walkathon on Friday, September 30, beginning at BurJuman. The hospital will help add an additional dash of colour to the event by providing an ambulance at the walkathon.
Dr. Sant will have an opportunity to reach a wide Dubai audience with information on breast cancer – including its signs, symptoms, testing and treatment – as well as remind listeners to visit the free clinic at BurJuman during radio interviews in different channels.
As part of an ongoing dedication to women’s health, both Welcare Hospital in Garhoud and the Welcare Ambulatory Care Centre in Dubai Knowledge Village offer the Well Woman Health Review, a comprehensive screening and review package that includes a number of tests and a full gynaecological consultation.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an international movement that seeks to educate women about breast cancer, especially the importance of detecting the disease in its earliest stages through screening mammography, clinical breast examination and, for women 20 years of age and older, breast self-examination.
