According to "Al Arabiya" TV, gunmen shot dead the US embassy security coordinator. According to initial investigation, the killing ws the work of Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), which accuses Yemen to ally with the Americans to fight the Islamists.
Earlier this week, Yemeni officials announced the discovery of three headless bodies in an outdoor market in the province of Marib in the east of the country.
The authorities suspect Al Qaeda members have killed the three men. Near the bodies, police found CDs that establish a link between the killings and Al-Qaeda. The authorities have not provided further details.
Yemeni media reported that the CD showed men admit that they are government informants within Al-Qaeda. The men said they had placed tracking devices inside cars that were then targeted by U.S. drone strikes.
Al-Qaeda is still very active in southern Yemen.
