An Arab star wouldn’t be the same without a catty comment or two towards his or her fellow celeb but some are more adept at the snide remarks and witty put-downs than others.The undoubted queen of the online cat fight is UAE songstress and Arab Idol judge, Ahlam [1]. With her keyboard in hand, she has hissed and spat at everyone from singing superstars to ordinary members of the public.While you or I might take the moral high ground, a celebrity scorned is not about to take it lying down and the war of words can erupt virtually without warning. They might look pretty, sweet and carefree but an Arab starlet is not without her vicious comeback as comedian, Nemr Abou Nassar, found out when he took on the tiny blonde singer, Myriam Klink [2].And the celebrity world of spats is certainly not restricted to women alone. Some of the pettiest and most vitriolic attacks come from male celebrities. Arab stars are not exactly a forgiving bunch either, as Adel Imam and Hussein Fahmi have found out [3].This pair of Egyptian luvvies have been at each others’ throats for decades now, although rumors of a truce could spell hope the celebosphere over.Here we take a look at some of the sharpest tongues and longest claws [4] the celebrity world has to offer.

Catty betrayal: More snub than claws-out cat fight, the every-bitchy UAE star, Ahlam, was behind yet another spat this year. Despite working with co-host, Nancy, for several months, she left her out in the cold when it came to award nominations, asking fans to vote for Nancy’s rival instead.

It was a case of handbags at dawn when Lebanese singing stars, Haifa and Elissa, got bitchy with each other on Twitter. Hearing that Haifa didn’t like her new album, lippy-Elissa snapped at a fan about it. But Haifa had the last laugh, tweeting: “Elissa honey, don’t be starting this with me”.

While sexy Lebanese star, Haifa, and Egyptian bellydancer, Fifi, were all smiles in public, rumor had it they were at each others throats away from the camera’s glare. The pair of divas were working together on a TV soap but started more drama off-screen than on.

Perhaps the longest running of any celeb spat, this Egyptian acting duo finally grew up and got over their differences this January after more than 20 years of feuding. Adel Imam and Hussein Fahmi have been trading insults for so long, we barely recognize them as friends.

Hitting her where it hurts, ‘The Voice’ judge, Sherine Abdel Wahab, decided to go on the offensive when asked about Haifa Wehbe’s figure. Claiming that she was hotter than Haifa back in the day was guaranteed to stir things up with the Lebanese diva.

The battle of Beirut looked set to erupt when cutesy starlet, Myriam Klink, took on veteran comedian, Nemr Abou Nassar, in a war of words. While Nemr objected to Myriam’s fluffy bunny voice and saucy lyrics, Myriam hit back in style, telling the funnyman: “The only bitch is you, bitch!” Meow!

Egypt’s answer to Jon Stewart, comedian Bassem Youssef, has never exactly been in the Muslim Brotherhood’s good books but when he decided to turn their president’s face into a pin cushion, he went too far for some. One Morsi fan hit back, saying Youssef was so girly he should wear a face veil.
