Arsenal 's Lukas Podolski has hit back at teammate Mesut Ozil 's critics after last night's Champions League clash with Bayern Munich. Though Podolski didn't feature against his former team, he jumped to the defense of his club and international teammate after Ozil missed a penalty and was once again labeled as a flop after the match.
Ozil made a big money move to the Emirates from Real Madrid this summer and started his time in London with a bang, setting up Olivier Giroud away at Sunderland in the Premier League. He's gone on to create and score other goals, but his form in recent weeks has left some Arsenal, and football fans in general, wondering whether or not he's cut out for the Premier League. Ozil was hammered on Twitter throughout last night's performance by football fans everywhere, but many rushed to his defense, citing that he'd played nearly every game for Arsenal since signing back in September. Some have even stated that players like Robert Pires also had difficult first seasons before going on to enjoy successful Arsenal careers.
Regardless, Podolski's legend will only grow with his latest post. The German international isn't Arsene Wenger's first choice at the moment, but he continues to maintain a positive attitude and produce whenever he is called upon.
Do you think the abuse Ozil has received in recent weeks is warranted, or should he be given the benefit of the doubt for his first season?
