Looking to hijack Manchester United 's attempt to sign the Portuguese ace, City is prepared to beat any financial offer that United puts to Ronaldo, hinting that they could pay more than 300,000 pounds-a-week to get their man, the Daily Star reports.
According to the report, City chairman Sheikh Mansur has made it clear to the club's chief executive Ferran Soriano and football director Txiki Begiristain that should Ronaldo come onto the market, City have to do everything possible to clinch his signature.
Although Ronaldo has a big emotional pull from Real, with United spending five months trying to put together a deal to bring the player back to Old Trafford, the report however, said that City is ready to overcome that hurdle and have made it clear that if Real is open to letting him leave, they will go as far as it takes to beat their Manchester rivals.
Ronaldo has two years left of his current deal in Spain, but despite making public claims a new deal is close, Real have yet to make any formal contract offer, which has increased optimism at United that they can seal a stunning summer transfer, although the report said that City's late interest will cause concern at Old Trafford.
