Now that Ozil has seen his shirt sales skyrocket even before he has walked out onto the pitch at the Emirates for his new club, former fan favorite and Arsenal hero Cesc Fabregas has come out with praise for his former side’s new signing:
"I believe Arsenal will be a perfect fit for him. He will enjoy himself a lot in the Premier League. It is a league with lots of spaces, and he is a player that will kill you if you give him space.
We already saw that at Real Madrid, he plays a brilliant final pass. I believe he will enjoy himself a lot in England."
Fabregas’ comments to Al Primer Toque are just some of many other quotations that have backed the 24-year-old to succeed.
His signing also continues to back the trend of Premier League clubs placing more and more faith in playmakers as the backbone of their offense according to Jason Burt of the Telegraph:
“The number 10 role can be played in a number of different ways — from ‘inside forward’ to playmaker or fantasista but the main hope for a manager is that whoever fulfills it will be the creative hub of the team.
It is all the more exciting that the strongest teams in the Premier League are heading down this route given the pace and physical nature of the football with other creative attacking midfielders, such as Erik Lamela at Spurs, also arriving.”
The reaction across La Liga and the Premier League have seen the arrival of Ozil at Arsenal as a massive gain for the English Side while his departure from Madrid has seen some believe it as a massive loss for Los Blancos.
Either way, it is for certain that Ozil has some massive expectations on his shoulders and if he does not deliver then he has the potential to see even more fans start calling for Arsene Wenger’s reign in North London to end.
