Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has claimed former Tottenham Hotspurs teammate Gareth Bale is good enough to play along the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Mesut Ozil and Gonzalo Higuain at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Real Madrid jersey was a parting gift in Croatia from Modric, tucked away in Bale's luggage as he returned to Cardiff following the 2-0 World Cup qualifying defeat.
Modric presented the Welshman with the iconic shirt many believe he will eventually wear permanently after Croatia's win in Osijek.
Fortunately for Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas, Bale is not quite sizing up a move to the Bernabeu yet, however, Modric believes the wing wizard would suit Los Blancos' style of play.
Modric left White Hart Lane in the summer, and although Bale recently signed a new contract there is an expectation he too will end up in La Liga.
The Croatian international said he similarly to former manager Harry Redknapp believes Bale could be a massive hit in Madrid.
"I think Harry [Redknapp] is right - it would be amazing for Gareth to come and play for Real Madrid," the Telegraph quoted Modric, as saying.
"I think he can do it. He is certainly good enough to play at the highest level. I hope he will come to us. It would be even better than now to have Ronaldo and Bale on the wings for Madrid," he added.
"And it could make Gareth an even better player. For me, they are the best two wingers in the world," he said. (ANI )
