The Manchester United striker who earned six million pounds last year, tops the pile of 24 Premier League players in the 2013 Sunday Times Sport Rich List, the Daily Star reports.
According to the report, second on the list is Rooney's teammate Rio Ferdinand, with a fortune worth 42 million pounds.
The report further lists retired former Liverpool star Michael Owen on the third position with 38 million-pound fortune and veteran United player Ryan Giggs and Chelsea's Frank Lampard come next on the list with 34 million pounds each.
Also among the top ten is West Ham footballer Joe Cole, with a fortune of 21 million pounds.
However, the report said that according to the list, former England football legend David Beckham, now playing for rich French club Paris Saint Germain, is the wealthiest sportsman in Britain with a fortune of 165 million pounds.
Meanwhile, the report added that World No.1 golfer Tiger Woods, with a fortune of 570 million pounds, remains the richest sportsman in the world. (ANI )
