Rooney, who was unveiled in United's Nike home strip for next season despite having asked to leave the club twice in three years, remains one of the club's most marketable players, The Sun reports.
The report however said that although Nike and United have used Rooney to push sales of the new kit, it, however, remains to be seen how much longer the United striker continues to wear it as new manager David Moyes is still to decide on Rooney's future.
According to the report, former boss Sir Alex Ferguson had also reportedly got tired of Rooney after his second bid to get away, with the striker being left out of Ferguson's farewell match at Old Trafford.
The report also said that a large proportion of United fans have also turned against Rooney, who was booed when he accepted his title-winning medal and also received stick during the club's victory bus parade.
Rooney has just two years left of his current 250,000 pounds-a-week contract and there are no signs the club are ready to offer him a new one, the report added. (ANI )
