It is a hard match to call between the Netherlands and Costa Rica. Holland have in many ways over performed this summer, especially with their thumping of Spain 1-5 in the opening match.
However, there is no nation in the quarterfinals that was less expected to be there than Costa Rica. The small CONCACAF nation has been sensational this summer and have made it past multiple nations that were expected to wipe the floor with them having survived a group of death with England, Italy and Uruguay, then defeating Greece in penalties in the round of 16.
While the Netherlands will be favored and are most likely to take the match and head to the next round, there is no doubt that there will be plenty of neutrals cheering for the underdog in Costa Rica as it is one of the feel good stories of the summer.
The loss of Nigel De Jong for the remainder of the World Cup for Louis Van Gaal's side is likely to see the interesting changes, such as Dirk Kuyt as a left wing back, continue and his unorthodox means of managing to win by whatever strategy, formation and means necessary is great to watch.
Costa Rica will be without defender Oscar Duarte after being dismissed against Greece and will see at least one change in the back line and create a potential weak point in what has been the nation's greatest asset this summer in their defensive structure.
