According to a team source, strikers Abdulaziz al Miqbali and Hassan Rabee'a, along with winger Hussain Mudhaffar, are racing against time to recover from injuries to make it to the final 23-member squad, which will be assembled by Oman coach Paul Le Guen.
The Frenchman, who began the build-up for the qualifiers with a local camp on Sunday, is expected to announce the team ahead of Oman's friendly against Lebanon at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex on May 27.
Le Guen is likely to pick the squad after the warm-up match between the Olympic team and the senior national side, to be played on Wednesday.
Miqbali had been advised rest over the last two weeks so that he can recover quickly from a hamstring problem. The Sohar Club forward underwent his first full training session on Monday and Le Guen, along with the team's medical staff, will keep a close watch on the player over the next few days before taking a call.
Mudhaffar is recovering from a groin injury, which he picked up while playing for Al Ettifaq of Saudi Arabia. The attacking left-back, who is still not fully match-fit, is expected to join the team on Wednesday after
Tuesday's AFC Cup match against Al Suwaiq in Dammam.
Rabee'a, who showed good form with Al Shabab and was hoping for a comeback to the national team, suffered a left ankle injury during the Omantel Elite League playoff final against Fanja on Monday. He had to be carried off the field in the 37th minute. Rabee'a is likely to be out of action for four-six weeks.
