Image 1 of 15: Green Book: the mainstay of his career, informing penal codes. Any Libyan who uses weapons against Libya is sentenced to death (but why share this since no one would use weapons against him; if they did, they would be foreign Al-Qaedan types, no?)
Image 1 of 15: We need to change the UN literature- it is long due a change, he announces in 2009, ripping documentation dramatically. (He still hasn’t got rid of his green book.)
Image 1 of 15: White book. A different book color for every whim. Gaddafi once proposed that Palestinian refugees should return en masse by ship to Israel’s shores, and that Israel and the Palestinian territories should become one state, Isratine.
Image 1 of 15: In the 1st speech of the month, most surreal appearance -blink and you might have missed it- in 15 second abbreviation of what could have been spun out had the weather conditions been right, he stands under an umbrella by his ‘Tuk Tuk’(rickshaw).
Image 1 of 15: Wearing visibly torn clothing looking rather like he emerged from a scuffle himself or was drugged out on Al Qaeda’s poisons. But he insists he is ‘Bahai’ meaning marvelous, denying the presentation of torn clothes and a tired face.
Image 1 of 15: YouTube spoof that almost celebrates his megalomania, by the Israeli musical blogger that spotted its musical dance potential: protesters have since promised that if the Gaddafi regime is toppled, they will dance the Zenga-Zenga in the square.
Image 1 of 15: Dressed strangely with arms raised and dropped, trance-like, as at a dancing rave, and repeating words in stoccato’d fashion, he inspires this musical mockery. What's more, in a different speech he urges his supporters to live, sing dance and stay up all night, and rejoice.
Image 1 of 15: It’s tough on the audiences who must sit through these long ranting speeches – often of 40 minutes - hoping for a gem of wisdom and sense (or not ) to materialize. He offers the reprieve of 15 seconds to vary the pace.
Image 1 of 15: The demands are not their’s; the demands come from Al Qaeda: His conspiracy involves halluceogenic drugs and Nescafe (not alcohol) and pills supplied from factories and their hot beverages spiked. Minors are then duped by drugs.
Image 1 of 15: I have my gun, I have my rifle to fight for Libya: He threatens to cleans his country house by house, alley by alley. (and yet,They love me. All my people are with me, they love me all. They will die to protect me, my people).
Image 1 of 15: WHERE WERE YOU, YOU RATS, YOU MEN WITH BEARDS, WHO ARE YOU, SHAME ON YOU! and a message to the parents: Control your children, keep them home (unless they are children of those who love Him, cause all supporters are urged to be out and about).
Image 1 of 15: If there is need, we shall use force according to international law and Libya’s constitutional laws.
Image 1 of 15: I AM A REVOLUTIONARY; I AM A BEDOUIN, I AM A MAN WHO LIVES IN A TENT. The Libyan people want to fight the attempted colonization by the West.
Image 1 of 15: No demonstration at all in the streets. Did you see demonstrations? Says Gaddafi.
Image 1 of 15: Name-calling to his people: Rats, cockroaches! Protestors are “drug-fuelled mice”. Earlier he said he was one of the people. Libya does not have a President or King. Libya is a state of the masses.(Those same cockroaches or drug-fuelled mice- Lab-rats? -ed.)
It’s been 2 weeks since the Libyans started to rebel against their eccentric but all-too-present leader of 41 years. In this time, as well as throughout his 41 year-career, Gaddafi has become a by-word for bizarre, loopy, eccentric, raving mad, delusional and dangerous.
As his country’s situation looks more and more troubled and bloody, his words become further divorced from reality. His utterings as he insists he hasn’t yet applied force, become ludicrous when compared to the reality and images coming out of his fragmenting bleeding country.
The crux of his arguments rest on 4 main points:
He tries to whip up the crowds into a binary of 'them and us', an anti-foreign agent and imperialism movement. Libya faces a campaign waged by outsiders, namely Al Qaeda agents, using local young minors under the influence of pills and hallucinogenics, prone to brainwashing, as agents of this rebellion. They want to colonize Libya even.
People love him (in case they didn’t – which they don’t – not love him that is - anyone who takes on Libya would be put to death). He uses the Green Book to legally reinforce his words. Lest he speak out of anger or petulance.
He is synonymous with Libya, the Glory of Libya; not the Monarch or President to be removed or expelled from post, or country, since he is Libya and Libya is its people.
He is the head of the Revolution. (So what is all the fuss about – he’s on the Protestors' side- ed)
Some of his finest moments of ridiculous posturing and spectacle, not least when gracing otherwise drab state rituals and events, have been distilled into this intense 2 weeks of rather serious violence and tragedy for his people; but in the way of black humor- fodder for some riveting entertainment and drama for a rather bemused though concerned world audience. Crescendos of hysteria, rhythmic arm waving and podium stomping it seems invite the young to comment and poke fun through the sharp tools of You-Tube and Facebook. A slew of U-tube musical spoofs and dubbed speeches have emerged, many going viral. Here are some of his best bits:-
We are all aware any spoof material is making social commentary over a very real very dangerous situation still unfolding before us.
