Minister for internal affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser Al Thani has been appointed the new prime minister of Qatar in one of several moves to reshuffle the cabinet by the new emir.
Qatar's new emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani spoke of regional issues and foreign policy during his first address to the nation, but did not touch upon the cabinet reshuffle that is expected to happen imminently.
Qatari insiders are expecting the current prime minister to be replaced by the minister of internal affairs, as the tiny Gulf state prepares for their new emir to make a nationwide address.
Qatar's new emir will speak to his nation for the first time on Wednesday, when he is expected to announced a reshuffle of the government.

Qatar's emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani said on Tuesday he was transferring power to his son, Crown Prince Sheikh Tamim, taking the rare step for a Gulf Arab ruler of voluntarily ceding power to try to ensure a smooth succesion.
