Five female news presenters quit al Jazeera over dress code

Five female news presenters at the Qatar-based Al-Jazeera satellite television channel have resigned over conflicts with management over dress code and other issues, a journalist there conveyed on Sunday. "This collective resignation is not motivated just by the growing pressure on the presenters concerning their dress code, which was evoked by the media," the journalist was quoted as saying by AFP.
"The conflicts run much deeper," the journalist added.
The news presenters who have reportedly quit are Jumana Namur, Lina Zahreddin, Lona al-Shibel, Julnar Mussa and Nofar Afli.
The Al-Hayat newspaper reported on Sunday that they had stepped down in the past few days after petitioning management earlier this year over repeated criticism from a top company official for allegedly not being conservative enough in their dress.

This was a big loss especially that these ladies were among the best on the channel.I hope they will come back soon after the problem was settled.I don't think it's a clothing style problem maybe because no one of them has her own programme.Remember the case of Mountaha Rama7i!Anyway Aljaeera is far bigger to let such collective resignation influence its reputation.I will miss Joumana and Louna a lot.i wish them good luck somewhere else.
