Laissez les bons temps roulez, or let the good times roll! Eton Institute, the region’s leading language training center, will be hosting a free French cultural evening open to the general public in celebration of the French festival of ‘Mardi Gras’.
‘Mardi Gras’, literally meaning ‘Fat Tuesday’, is a time for revelry, rich foods, and rambunctious costume parties before the onset of Lent, a month of piety. Celebrated around the world in different ways – from the wild carnivals of ‘Rio de Janeiro’ to the masquerade parades of Italy – the origin of ‘Mardi Gras’ is utterly French.
Moaz Khan, Marketing Manager at Eton Institute, commented: “The most enriching way to learn a language is to immerse yourself in its culture and live the experience. The unique cultural evenings hosted at Eton Institute are a great opportunity to experience various languages and cultures while having fun and interacting with people who share similar interests.”
Eton Institute invites the Francophiles of Dubai to a culture-oriented merrymaking evening held in the recently launched Language Studio, the UAE’s first free resource and multimedia library for language lovers, located at Dubai Knowledge Village. Guests will brush up on their French in a fun two-hour cultural tutorial, including the history of ‘Mardi Gras’, a spot of whimsical dress-up, and freshly made crepes worthy of an ‘Oh La La!’. Test your knowledge of French culture by taking part in a trivia quiz and win a variety of France-oriented prizes, ranging from French course discounts to authentic Parisién pastries.
Eton Institute’s ‘Mardi Gras’ will be held on Sunday, March 6th from 7pm to 9pm, and is completely free to attend for the public. Call 800 ETON (3866) to sign up and say ‘Bienvenue!’ to a fanciful and fun new cultural experience. Places are limited and are available on a first-come first-serve basis.
