Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) and q.media events held a joint press conference on Sunday May 29th, to announce details of the Doha Trade Fair (DTF) highlighting the different activities that will take place during the event. This year’s DTF is an exclusive event, offering visitors a premium shopping experience and exciting entertainment opportunities.
The ten-day event, scheduled to take place from the 4th to the 13th of June at the Doha Exhibition Center, is held under the patronage of H.E Sheikh Khalifa Bin Jassim Bin Mohammed Al-Thani, Chairman of Qatar Chamber of Commerce & Industry (QCCI) and organized by QTA in partnership with q.media events.
The press conference, which took place at the Doha Exhibitions Center, was attended by Mr. Lahdan Ghanim Al Mohannadi, Head of Organizing Internal Exhibition and Exhibitions Services Department at Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) and Mr. Dany Hachem, Group Events Advisor at q.media.
During the press conference Mr. Lahdan Al Mohannadi of QTA, expressed his optimism about the success of the event and its positive impact on both domestic and regional tourism.
"We are delighted to bring this year, yet, another grand event that will appeal to people of all ages and cultures, under one roof. This edition of the Doha Trade Fair is expected to be a huge success attracting 200,000 visitors, while positively impacting Qatar’s domestic tourism and attracting visitors from the region.
“Our aim is to make Doha a sought-after leisure and cultural destination, as well as a premier destination for doing business. This is why we believe that with q.media’s involvement, the DTF’s 2011 edition will be an exclusive one, with its new look and concept,” Mr. Al Mohannadi said while addressing the media.
“I am happy to announce that this year the exhibition will be held in a spacious area of 15,000 square meters, in addition to a 2,000 square meters space, which has been built outside the exhibition hall and is especially dedicated to host family entertainment at the ‘Fun Zone’.
“I am very optimistic that this year’s Doha Trade Fair will be a huge success, as QTA as always, has exerted a great effort to make sure that this event is not to be missed,” he continued.
Speaking on behalf of q.media was Mr. Dany Hachem, Group Events Advisor, who explained q.media’s vision in bringing upscale events to Qatar by working in partnership with Qatar Tourism Authority. Therefore, according to him, this year’s DTF has a brand new upgraded look, facilities and entertainment activities that will appeal to all visitors.
“Our strategy at q.media is to bring world class events that will help establish Qatar’s position as a leading destination for global conventions and exhibitions, and to raise the standard of events in Qatar to international levels.
“The theme of the 2011 Doha Trade Fair, “Shop the World," is reflective of the change in products and brands available for sale. This year, we can assure visitors that each country pavilion is selling a variety of the latest exclusive and traditional products from their own country,” said Mr. Hachem.
“The Doha Trade Fair will have something for everyone; a newly created ‘Fun Zone’ will be the venue for family activities, from inflatable rides to fun games to daily parades. In addition, q.media will attempt to beat the current world record for the largest board game, MONOPOLY on June 4, which will be on display at the ‘Fun Zone’.
“The game board will be open for the public to play a series of MONOPOLY games from June 5 to June 13, and teams will be selected from the Facebook fan base. The overall winner of the competition will win the grand prize, a brand new car,” he added.
The Doha Trade Fair will feature more than 550 exhibitors, from 31 different countries, including Bangladesh, Canada, China, Egypt, France, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Italy, Jordan, Kenya, Korea, KSA, Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Philippines, Qatar, Singapore, Syria, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, UAE, USA and Yemen.
The Doha Trade Fair 2011 will hold its grand opening at 10 am on June 4 at the Doha Exhibitions Center with an official ceremony, which will be attended by official delegates from QTA, and q.media as well as high-profile officials from the countries represented as well as sponsors of the event. The Doha Trade Fair will run from June 4 to June 13. Opening times are from 10.00am until 10.00pm daily and on Friday from 2.00pm until 10.00pm. Entry is free.
