Gaddafi takes notion of being surrounded by ladies literally and recruits ladies to accompany him in the name of state security. As such, he is certainly living the male dream of power and women (or harem) by having an entourage of female supposedly virgin body guards that live and ‘will’ (and have done) die for him.

It’s been 2 weeks since the Libyans started to rebel against their eccentric but all-too-present leader of 41 years.  In this time, as well as throughout his 41 year-career, Gaddafi has become a by-word for bizarre, loopy, eccentric, raving mad, delusional and dangerous. As his country’s situation looks more and more troubled and bloody, his words become further divorced from reality. His utterings as he insists he hasn’t yet applied force, become ludicrous when compared to the reality and images coming out of his fragmenting bleeding country.

Gaddafi’s clan have been described as a Motley but dangerous lot. Nothing bland from the seed of such a scandalous father.Though he is known for attracting a crowd, his children are, with the exception of the more private Saif al-Arab, hardly prone to withdrawal from the public eye either.

This Colonel is fast becoming the nation's and world's most mocked leader, the butt of many jokes, and arguably he invites this treatment, given his panto-like stunts, costume and behavior.

From the Arab Gulf kingdoms, to the more troubled Mid Eastern hot spots of Egypt and Iraq, leaders and patrons have their serene sea decks to keep them distracted from the noise of the rabble on stormy land!
