The organizing committee of the 8th Fazza IPC Athletics Championship has announced the participation of 49 countries in the eighth edition of the Fazza IPC Athletes Championship Grand Prix 2016.

The event, which will be taking place at Dubai Police Club Stadium from March 17th - 20th, will be held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, DSC. The 8th Fazza Athletics Championship is the last qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The event will be organized and supervised by the Dubai Club for the Disabled with the support of their strategic partners, the Hamdan bin Mohammed Heritage Center, HHC, the International Paralympic Committee, the General Authority for Youth and Sports Welfare, the DSC, and the UAE Paralympic Committee.

Participating delegates arrived today, with qualifying rounds set to take place on March 15th - 16th at the Dubai Club for the Disabled as well as the Dubai Police Officers’ Club and Dubai Hospital.

At a preliminary press conference, Thani Juma Berregad, the Chairman of the Organising Committee, thanked H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for his unwavering support and sponsorship of the championship, in particular his remarkable level of support for the disabled. Special thanks also went to the Hamdan bin Mohammed Heritage Centre for lending their support to organising the event and ensuring its success.

Amongst the attendees who also spoke at the conference were Majid Abdullah Al Usaimi, Executive Director at the Dubai Club for the Disabled and Director of the Fazza Championships for the Disabled, Fatma Al Bannay, Head of the Media Office at Hamdan bin Mohammed Heritage Center and Najeeb Meshkan, the Technical Director for the Fazza Championships for the Disabled.
