Al-Sadd deny Xavi offer
Catalunya Radio had claimed the Qatari club were planning on offering the 34-year-old a lucrative deal to leave the Spanish giants, but, Al-Sadd have called the story "inaccurate and unrealistic".
“The official website of Al Sadd denies all news transmitted through the media about the club's offer for Barcelona player Xavi Hernandez, and that everything that was said is incorrect and unrealistic,” a statement on the club’s official website read.
Xavi has played more than 700 games in 13 professional seasons for Barca, winning more trophies with the team (22) than any other player in the history of the club.
The midfielder’s contract expires in the summer of 2016 and despite previously saying he wanted to finish his career at Camp Nou, Xavi has previously hinted that he may consider a move abroad.
Should he do so, the Spain international will join fellow Barca veterans Victor Valdes and Carles Puyol in bringing an end to their time in Catalonia this summer.
