Arsenal's Arteta could be back for Stoke City match
Arsenal's response to the opening day defeat against Aston Villa has been tremendous to say the least. They have since gone on a great run of form in the Premier League and Champions League to get rid of all the negative talk surrounding the club. This has been partly done by several avenues; the incredible form of Aaron Ramsey, the mega money arrival of Mesut Ozil, and the consistent form of Olivier Giroud being some of them. Despite these positives, there are still causes for concern around Arsenal.
They may have secured a comfortable 3-1 win against Sunderland during the weekend, but the bench looked extremely threadbare. Even ahead of the Champions League match against Marseille, there were concerns about the fitness of Giroud and Ozil. Of course, they ended up playing the match, but their absence could have given Arsene Wenger a real headache. Slowly, Wenger's injury problems appears to be going away, as the Arsenal manager confirmed that Mikel Arteta could be back for the weekend's match against Stoke City.
The 31-year-old has been one of the most consistent performers for Arsenal over the last two years. His experience and skills could be a massive boost for the team.
"There are no new injuries.
"Arteta returns to full training today and could be back in the squad. He is one of our leaders and we are happy to have him back," said Wenger ahead of the match to the Daily Mail.
Ramsey could be a player to watch in the match, as it was against Stoke City that he suffered a horrible leg injury a few years ago. It threatened to ruin his career, but the Welsh midfielder slowly appears to be reaching his best. Never known for his goalscoring abilities, Ramsey appears to have found a rich vein of form that has seen him score six goals in just seven matches this season.
His maturity has also been a talking point. Playing against Stoke once again would be a real test of his strength.
