Arsenal's 1-0 defeat against Manchester United on Sunday brought an end to a spectacular run in away matches for the gunners. They had gone 15 matches unbeaten away from home in all competitions prior to this defeat. Arsene Wenger has reiterated several times that they have taken more points than any other team in 2013. Arsenal need to end the calendar year in the same way if they are to maintain their strong position in the league.

Wojciech Szczesny re-established himself as the number one goalkeeper at the club after long spells of poor form last season. He started against United and he feels that Arsenal must respond quickly in order to sustain their good start to the season. According to Sky Sports, he said to Arsenal Player:

"It probably would have been a fair result but they scored a good goal from a set-piece so we'll take that on the chin and try to move on.

"The other teams dropped points this week as well but we didn't want to drop three points.

"It's important for us to get back to winning ways as quickly as we can and make the difference at the top of the table bigger."

The defeat against United is not the end of the world for the gunners. They still sit top of the table with a two-point advantage over Liverpool, while their advantage over regular title rivals like Manchester United, Chelsea, and Manchester City is even bigger.

The next few fixtures certainly will try to test them even more. Just after returning from the international break, they must face Southampton, who are flying high in the league. Even though this is a home match, the well-organised Pochettino's team will be hard to beat.

This will be followed by a Champions League match against Olympique Marseille, in which Arsenal could possibly seal qualification to the last 16 stage. A difficult away trip to Cardiff brings an end to the next three matches for the gunners after the international break.

As difficult as they may sound, three consecutive victories for Arsenal is not beyond the possibility. It may well help them forget this difficult defeat.
