Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo says that the club will not be signing Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez, who is widely believed to be on his way out of Old Trafford. He has also dismissed transfer rumours linking the Spanish club with the likes of Santi Cazorla and Fernando Torres. These Premier League stars are believed to be looking for a change for various reasons.

Cazorla is reportedly looking at a return to Spanish football before he hits the 30 mark. Torres has struggled a lot since his £50 million transfer from Liverpool. Despite his poor form, the Chelsea forward has been able to command a regular first-team spot simply due to the lack of options. The arrival of Diego Costa and the return of Didier Drogba, though, could potentially push him to third place in the pecking order.

After scoring 20 goals in his debut season at Old Trafford, Hernandez was expected to be a star in the Premier League. Instead, he has become the replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Unlike Hernandez, the Norwegian was not too concerned about being on the bench often. Louis van Gaal is set to favour playing two strikers in a 3-5-2 formation at United, but Hernandez looks unlikely to be one of them.

The Dutch manager failed to give assurances that Hernandez will get regular first-team football. This has seen him linked with Atletico Madrid, while his former teammate Nemanja Vidic has been urging him to join Inter Milan.

Cerezo, though, ruled out a transfer for these three players. He said:

“Many names have been mentioned, but none of those players, neither Cazorla, Callejon, Torres nor Chicharito (Hernandez) are on our agenda.

“If we sign another player, it won't be any of them.”

In many ways, current Spanish champions Atletico Madrid will be starting the season from scratch. They have lost a number of their top players like Costa and Filipe Luis. Diego Simeone will have a hard time in getting the new players adjust to the philosophy of the club.
