Rodgers says Liverpool set to buy new players
Liverpool have already added four new faces in the forms of Rickie Lambert, Emre Can, Adam Lallana and most recently Lazar Markovic.
The Reds continue their chase for new signings and today in his morning press conference manager Brendan Rodgers confirmed that the club are not yet done with their summer spending plans after the sale of star striker Luis Suarez:
"The signings we have made have no relation to Luis going. These were players that were always earmarked to come in.
We felt last year we just never had the depth and we are in the Champions League this year so we have to ensure we have as strong a squad as possible.
Obviously Luis going gives us the clout to go and spend more and we are getting the right type of player in.
But we certainly won't spend just for the sake of spending. It has to be the sort of player who is going to improve us."
There continue to rumors of the Reds chasing Borussia Dortmund and German international Marco Reus as well as other targets.
The loss of Suarez is certain to play a heavy role in the additional new signings that the club are going to have to make and their need for another world class forward is obvious with them having had interest in Alexis Sanchez and there still needs to be an emphasis on signings another striker that can truly challenge Daniel Sturridge for his first team place.
