David Silva, Martin Demichelis and Gael Clichy all remain absent from the Manchester City first team while Micah Richards is expected to make his return to action against Wigan Athletic on Tuesday.

Samir Nasri, Joe Hart, Yaya Toure, Vincent Kompany and Aleksander Kolarov are expected to retain their places while James Milner, Joleon Lescott, Javi Garcia, Stevan Jovetin and Edin Dzeko are expected to join Richards in his return to the first team.

Nasri has been in top form since he was thrust back into the first team following David Silva's unfortunate injury and could be the biggest catalyst to the Citizens getting on the board quickly.

City also have the advantage of an opponent that will be playing their third match in six days as Wigan are going to be rotated and tired under manager Owen Coyle.

The current FA Cup champions will be hoping to get one over on City again as they did lastMay but their tough schedule over the last week is certain to see them strained.

However, when it is a cup match and a one off you can never plan for anything and even with everything against them including City riding a massive high from their victory over Manchester United on Sunday you cannot count Wigan out.
