AC Milan v Atletico Madrid: UCL projected lineups as Seedorf leads European dream
AC Milan v Atletico Madrid: UCL projected lineups as Seedorf leads European dream

AC Milan are the second most crowned European Champions in history with seven titles and they are once again looking to make the most of their foray into Europe as their domestic campaign has lacked considerable results this season.

Currently sitting in ninth place domestically and with a host of injured stars, former hero turned manager Clarence Seedorf will hope to inspire a grand performance in front of the San Siro fans as it could be he last European action they see for the Rossoneri for some time.

Stephan El Shaarawy, Robinho, Urby Emanuelson, Keisuke Honda, Sulley Ali Muntari, Riccardo Montolivo and several others all missing the match through either injury or suspension, Seedorf has a limited selection.

However, the combination of defensive midfield enforcers Nigel De Jong and Michael Essien will provide some strong support to his back line against the strong attack of the visitors.

Atletico Madrid have been on top form this season and are level at the top of the Spanish table with Barcelona and Real Madrid and have major aspirations to make something of not just one campaign but both their domestic and European efforts.

Diego Costa has been exemplary for the side and David Villa's experience in Europe is likely to come in handy for the side. Additionally there is nothing like having a future great between the sticks in Thibaut Courtois.

Milan XI: Abbiati; Sciglio, Zaccardo, Rami, Constant; Essien, Jong; Abate, Kaka, Taarabt; Balotelli.

Atletico XI: Courtois; Juanfran, Miranda, Godin, Insua; Koke, Gabi, Suarez, Turan; Costa, Villa.
