Report: Chinese tennis star Li Na to retire
Chinese tennis star Li Na, 32, will announce her retirement on Friday, state broadcaster China Central Television said in a microblog post on Thursday.
"According to an insider, Li Na will officially announce to the public on the 19th that she will retire," the CCTV-5 sports channel reported on its official Sina.com microblog.
"So she will miss the Wuhan Open and China Open," the post said. "It is said that the reason for her retirement is that her health condition can no longer support her for any games."
Li is currently ranked 6th in the world by the Women's Tennis Association. She won this year's Australian Open the 2011 French Open.
