Man Utd's De Gea 'snubs' rumoured Barcelona move
The Red Devils goalie, who has been linked with a transfer to the Nou Camp to replace want-away star Victor Valdes this summer, has vowed to snub Barcelona, adding that he means to honour his contract at United, the Sun reports.
De Gea, who has been called up by World and European champions Spain because of his brilliant form recently, said that although he would like to return to Madrid one day as it is his hometown, he insisted that Valdes is still the goalkeeper at Barcelona.
De Gea further said that he would like to stay at United for a long time and win a number of titles for the club.
Praising United boss Sir Alex Ferguson even though De Gea had come under huge pressure since joining United in July 2011, the goalkeeper said that Ferguson had helped him to overcome the criticism, adding that the manager is a father-figure for everyone at the club.
Stating that a footballer has to get used to both praise and criticism, De Gea said that it is a part of a footballer's job to live with both and never lose his identity in the process. (ANI)
