Ecclestone confident of returning as F1 director after bribery case ends
Ecclestone has stepped down as a director of F1 parent company Delta Topco ahead of a trial that is likely to start in April although he denied allegations that he offered a 45 million-dollar bribe to a German banker, who is serving a jail sentence for receiving the payment.
According to the BBC, Ecclestone said that he would be back on the board of Delta Topco again after the court case is over, adding that everyone on the board is supportive of him and wants him to continue with his work.
Although Ecclestone admitted making the payment, he insisted that he was effectively the victim of blackmail and claimed that he acted to prevent the banker revealing false details of his tax affairs.
The F1 chief executive further said that he will going ahead with his decision regarding the races and the circuits as before, although he admitted that he cannot buy anything without the board's approval for the time being. (ANI)
