Liverpool are on the richest vein of form they have been in the last several years as the side have put 14 goals past their opponents and only allowed two to slip past them in their last three matches.

Despite the continued absence of Daniel Sturridge and Steven Gerrard, Jordan Henderson, Raheem Sterling and Jon Flanagan have risen above expectations to prove their worth.

Luis Suarez has emerged as a leader having taken the armband against Spurs in the place of both Gerrard and vice-captain Daniel Agger, and is making headlines for leading by example not for all the wrong reasons.

Cardiff City earned a much needed victory over West Brom last weekend but despite showing inspired performances on occasion this season, their away form has not been up to par and they could be in for a long day at Anfield.

Having only scored one goal in their last four games, the Bluebirds are desperate to find a way to break down defenses.

Ironically Malky Mackay has seen his club's best showing in the last five weeks be a two-all draw against Manchester United and he will hope that the opposition brings out the best in his charges.

Liverpool XI: Mignolet; Johnson, Skrtel, Sakho, Flanagan; Henderson, Leiva, Allen; Sterling, Suarez, Coutinho.

Cardiff XI: Marshall; Theophile-Catherine, Caulker, Turner, Taylor; Odemwingie, Mutch, Medel, Whittingham, Noone; Campbell.
