Manchester United looking to Roma defensive star as Vidic replacement

Manchester United are looking to make a major move for AS Roma star defender Mehdi Benatia according to rumors from TalkSPORT.

The Moroccan moved to Roma for a fee of €13.5 million from Udinese this summer and has proven to be a great buy with his skills helping to keep the back line for the Wolves as one of the best in the Serie A.

However, United are tipped to chase the recently moved defender as a replacement for the soon to be departing Nemanja Vidic.

With Benatia at the heart of Roma’s defense they have the second best defensive goals allowed total with only eleven shipped this season and only Bayern Munich is nine against have fewer in all of Europe’s top 98 clubs.

Currently United’s defense continues to be the weakest link for the Red Devils and if they are going to be more competitive next season, they must rebuild from the back with an already proven star to form a solid foundation as soon as possible.
