Man Utd ready to sell Di Maria
Angel Di Maria
Manchester United are ready to sell record buy Angel Di Maria in the summer as they step up their plans to bring in Memphis Depay.
Britain’s record £59.7 million signing has been substituted in United’s last three matches, with manager Louis van Gaal admitting the Argentinian is struggling to adjust to the Premier League, Daily Star reported.
And if he leaves Old Trafford, United could replace him with Dutch winger Memphis Depay, who regards and Van Gaal as a father figure and mentor.
Di Maria, 27, and his family were badly shaken by an attempted break-in at their Cheshire home.
Now, it is claimed in France that mega-wealthy PSG are again eyeing his currently-unhappy situation at United.
They were seriously interested before his move from Real Madrid to United in August, and it would still be a shock if United decided to make Di Maria’s stay in Manchester just one season.
But if United did decide to cash in, they could look to PSV Eindhoven’s Depay – a member of Van Gaal’s Dutch World Cup squad – as a replacement.
Depay, 21 has only a year remaining on his contract, and has been told he can leave in the summer for £20 million.
Tottenham are also interested, but believe they would lose out to United in a battle for a player highly rated by Van Gaal.
