Man Utd battling Newcastle for Janmaat
Manchester United have already started their defensive renovation with the hopeful addition of Thomas Vermaelen from Arsenal and the already completed move of Southampton youngster Luke Shaw. It now appears that right back is their next priority according to reports from the Star.
Netherlands international and Feyenoord Rotterdam right back Daryl Janmaat is believed the next target on Louis Van Gaal's revolutionary radar.
However, it appears that an initial offer of £4 million has been nowhere near the club's asking price of £7 million and the Red Devils are expected to have to raise their bid in order to stave off interest from fellow English Premier League side Newcastle United.
The Magpies are believed set to ship French international, Mathieu Debuchy to Arsenal for around £12 million freeing up the capital needed to secure Janmaat ahead of the Red Devils if there are not some other negotiations made.
The 24-year-old has been a first team regular since he was 19 years of age during his time with SC Heerenveen and his past two season's with Feyenoord have seen him continue to rise to the top as one of the premier young defensive Dutch players in the world.
With his national team manager set to leave and take hold of the reigns at Manchester United officially at the end of the World Cup, it would be expected that United have the edge over Newcastle in the mind of the player, but the purse strings are what are truly expected to be the deciding factor as to if Janmaat will move across the English Channel this summer.
