Egypt's veteran striker Emad Meteb committed his future to Ahly early Saturday after seeing the Reds crowned with the Egyptian Premier League title following Friday's 2-1 win over Ismaily.

Ahly sealed the league title with two matches to spare after rivals Zamalek failed to secure more than a 2-2 draw with Masry, giving Ahly an unassailable seven point lead at the top of the table.

Meteb, one of Ahly's icons who guided the club to a host of titles, was recently linked with a move outside the Cairo giants after failing to book a regular place in the starting line-up since the season's start.

"It is impossible to leave Ahly as long as I am able to play and benefit the club," Meteb, who came through Ahly's youth ranks, told CBC TV channel after the Ismaily match.

"In a recent meeting with Ahly president Mahmoud Taher, he assured me that it is my right to remain at the club until my retirement.

"From my side it is very obvious. Who said that I want to leave the club?" the 33-year-old striker added.

Meanwhile, Ahly's chairman confirmed that Meteb won't be leaving the Reds next season.

"Meteb is not just a player. He is a wonderful skipper," Taher explained Friday night.

"He achieved a lot for Ahly and currently has a big role and sure, he will remain with us," the club president concluded.

Meteb, vice-captain of the club after Hossam Ghaly, has guided Ahly to win six league titles, two Egypt Cups, three Egyptian Super Cups and three CAF Champions League trophies.
