Two of Middle East’s racing veterans will have an opportunity to race at the third round of this year’s Audi Sport TT Cup.
Bassam Kronfli and Edy Saaiby have been selected to represent the region at the race on the historic Norisring in Nuremberg.
The venue is the ‘home round’ for Audi. Nuremberg is only 90km away from the Audi headquarters in Ingolstadt. Bassam Kronfli is a veteran in the UAE racing scene and has competed in several endurance races during his career, most recently the Dubai 24 hours.
“It’s exciting to get the call up from Audi to compete as a guest driver in the Norisring round of the Audi Sport TT Cup. While I am used to racing much more powerful machinery, a brief test of the TT Cup last month showed it to be a challenging,” he said.
Kronfli, a Dubai resident with a long history of racing at the Dubai Autodrome, has an impressive track record in the region.
Edy Saaiby races at the Radical Cup Middle East and in the TRD 86 Cup in the UAE.
The Lebanese is excited to be part of the Audi Sport TT Cup: “It’s a pleasure for me to join the Audi Sport TT Cup race at one of the best racing tracks, the Norisring, and have my first international race. It is my first time racing at the Norisring and my first time on a street circuit.”
