Atletico Madrid assistant manager becomes first coach to utilize Google Glass in an official match
The beautiful game as we know it took a new step in terms of technological advancement as Mono Burgos, former goalkeeper and assistant manager of Atletico Madrid was spotted in the sidelines wearing these high-tech glasses. The glass which has a specialised data system has been developed by the Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia (UCAM), Mediapro and La Liga.
Its functions were described by the club by releasing a statement and set of images portraying the effectiveness of the innovative product after the match was over. The image of Burgos was a subject of post match discussion among fans and football experts.
The glasses allow a user to analyse the sport in real time and also extract the actual statistics of the concerned match. The team can accumulate the data regarding their display in a game as well as gather the details of their opponents performance for the whole season.
For a live match, the glasses need to have an access to an internet connection. But the data can be saved for any previous game and the match facts will be available to the user.
The statistics are updated in an interval of every 30 seconds and they are formulated based on four categories which include “General statistics”, “Game Building”, “Defence” and “Shots”. Without even looking at the game, one can access the data of the game by browsing between these four options.
Certainly a new dimension has been brought into the game following the introduction of this new commodity.
