Reports from TalkSPORT claim that Napoli are set to make a move for Liverpool defensive midfielder Lucas Leiva in January as manager Rafael Benitez is looking to increase the stability of his midfield for the long term.
The Spanish tactical was responsible for the arrival of Lucas at Liverpool back in 2007 when the took a gamble on the young Gremio starlet. At the time Lucas was more known for his attacking mindset, but over time he was completely converted to a more complete anchoring midfielder.
However, he did not really come to life as a crucial part of the Reds first team until after Benitez's departure from Anfield.
Now the Spaniard is hoping to see the 26-year-old move to Italy so he can see his once young addition now repay his faith in him as a fully blossomed star.
Although Liverpool are unlikely to want to part with the Brazilian as he continues to be ever more important to the club's future and is essential in manager Brendan Rodger's multiple attacking schemes.
