Activists across the globe are demanding the world community intervene to release Palestinian footballer Mahmoud Sarsak, who entered his 84th day of a hunger strike and is facing almost certain death, reports from Palestine say.

Solidarity protests are scheduled for Monday across Palestine to show their support for the jailed footballer.

The footballer has garnered much attention among Palestinian and other rights activists in the region over his refusal to eat food, but his action has done little to improve his plight, as the world stands by and does not force Israel to release the man.

“Our national team football player ‪#MahmoudSarsak‬ is being left to die in Israeli prison hospital ACT now to save him,” wrote Tweet Palestine on Monday morning, appealing to the world to demand Israel release the player, who has become a symbol of the struggle in Palestine.

Sarsak entered a hunger strike nearly three months ago to protest the administrative measures against him by Israeli authorities. Despite the widespread anger surrounding his detention and health situation, Israel has refused to release the man.

According to sources close to Sarsak, he is on his death bed, and could succumb any day as a result of his refusal to take in food.

Online petitions have been circulated for supporters to sign in support of Sarsak. But it seems to have little affect on the Israeli authorities.

Israel has made itself into a militant supremacist theocracy/ethnocracy with ICBM nukes; a very real and rapidly increasing threat to itself and to the whole world. A pariah among nations. Justice demands that UN and NATO impose resolution just as involuntary, disruptive and humiliating to Israel as Israel has wreaked upon occupied Palestine for generations. The Jewish State must be made to recognize an armed Palestine with externally enforced autonomy, eviction of all settlers, true contiguity encompassing Gaza, the West Bank and Jerusalem together, neither pinched nor parceled, and pay punitive reparations.
