Qatar handball team set for Rio 2016 Olympics

The Qatari team is looking forwards for more global achievements as one of the best teams in the world.
Over three years, Qatar National Handball Team won the gold medal in the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.
The team also won the silver medal in the Handball World Championship in Doha in 2015, and then achieved a historic 28-19 victory over its Iranian counterpart in the final game of the Asian qualifiers for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Qatar is scheduled to compete at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016.
The draw for handball tournaments put the Qatari team in Group A with the teams of Tunisia, France, Denmark, Croatia and Argentina.
Qatar will first face Croatia on August 7, according to the declared game table.
The Qatari national team attended local and foreign training camps in preparation for the Olympics. The camps included several friendly matches with European teams.
Locally, the team will also play friendly with a number of European and Asian teams including Japan;s team on July 8 and 10.
Supervisor of the team Adel Hilal Al Anzi said in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) that qualifying to Rio Olympics came after more then three years of planning and long term strategy set by the board of directors of Qatar Handball Association.
He looked towards more achievements for the Qatari team which had accomplished huge results in the championships recently.
He noted that the upcoming Olympics competitions will not be easy in light of the competing group, early timing and limited number of players.
