Reports: Iran coach Queiroz resigns
Carlos Queiroz has resigned as Iran national team coach over disputes concerning his methods, local news reports said on Saturday.
The nation's football federation FFI neither confirmed nor dismissed the news, and the ISNA news agency said that a crisis meeting was scheduled for Sunday.
Queiroz did not return with the team from a training camp in Dubai after several club coaches had criticised that the camp took place although a scheduled friendly with Morocco was called off, and that their interests were not taken into account by the Portuguese coach.
The dispute reportedly angered the Portuguese helmsman to such a degree that he stayed in Dubai while sending several players home.
In addition, the Iran team is not impressing at the moment although it leads its qualifying group for the World Cup 2018 in Russia.
Queiroz has been in charge of the team since 2011 and has been engaged in disputes before. His current contract is until 2018.
