Tiger Woods set to compete in the Masters
Tiger Woods will play in this year's Masters in Augusta, Georgia, the golfer said Friday in an announcement at his website and on Twitter.
"I'm playing in the Masters," said Woods, a four-time winner of the tournament, which starts next week. "It's obviously very important to me, and I want to be there."
The former world number one has not played competitively for nearly two months. Problems with his back caused him to miss last year's Masters, and in February the 39-year-old withdrew in the middle of a tournament and later said he would stay away from the game until he felt he could play competitively again.
"I've worked a lot on my game and I'm looking forward to competing," he said. "I'm excited to get to Augusta and I appreciate everyone's support."
