Top 5 Premier League deadline day transfers
Football Daily presented the Top 5 Worst Deadline Day Transfers yesterday, but today its all about the Top 5 Transfers on Deadline Day.
Starting at number five, Rafael Van Der Vaart's move from Real Madrid to Tottenham in 2010 marked a huge coup for the North London side. The Dutch international joined Spurs and made an immediate impact, leading the team in scoring his first season at the club.
On deadline day in 2006, West Ham United announced the signing of Argentinians Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano. Tevez helped saved West Ham from relegation before being sold to Manchester United where he enjoyed more success under Sir Alex Ferguson. He was then sold to Manchester City before completing a move to Juventus this summer.
At number three is Ashley Cole. The left back was thought to be an Arsenal man through and through but a late deal for him in 2006 saw him join Premier League and London rivals Chelsea in a deal that saw William Gallas go the other way. The talented England international has since won the Champions Leauge, the Europa League and the Premier League at Chelsea.
In January of 2011, Liverpool signed Uruguayan international Luis Suarez from Ajax in a deal that saw the super talented striker help replace the gap left by Fernando Torres' move to Chelsea. Suarez has become one of the deadliest strikers in the world and continues to score goals for Brendan Rodgers men.
Last but not least is Manchester United's Wayne Rooney. The England international made his move from Everton to Manchester United in 2004 and promptly became the youngest player ever to score a hat trick in the Champions League on his debut.
