Torres loves former club Atletico Madrid more than Chelsea
Torres has been a lifelong fan of "Atleti" as he affectionately calls the club he left to join Liverpool in 2007 for 25 million pounds.
The Blues forward would come up against his beloved club for the first time at the Stade Louis II in Monaco, and he did not hide his true feelings.
"I have missed all the previous matches against Atletico. So it had to be something special with a title at stake. It will be the first time in my life that I don't want Atleti to win," The Sun quoted Torres, as saying.
"I am not hiding who I am, which team I support and to which club I owe more than any other, and I hope after this day, it will continue like that," he added.
Torres developed a fervent relationship with Liverpool fans before quitting 18 months ago to join Chelsea for a British record 50 million pounds. He said: "At Liverpool, I felt like I was at home, but, in the end when I left, I realised it was not home. Atletico has always been home."
Torres' love affair with Atletico began after his late grandfather Eulalio Sanz took him to one of their games when he was a child, as he was a huge Atletico fan.
Torres admitted that if he was still alive he could not bear to watch tomorrow's clash in Monaco.
"I suppose family ties and feelings are above those of your team, although in the case of my grandad, I don't know. I reckon he would not have watched, he would not even have listened to it," Torres said. (ANI)
