Wenger's first impressions on Ozil
Arsenal host Stoke City this weekend in what should be another tasty Premier League encounter. Recent seasons have shown the rivalry that has developed between the two sides has made both home and away fixtures much more than just another date on the calendar.
Stoke City are coming off a solid 0-0 draw with title contenders Manchester City, while Arsenal are enjoying a fine spell in both domestic and international competitions after losing to Aston Villa on opening day of the Premier League.
One notable (understatement!) addition to Arsenal's squad this season is new German international Mesut Ozil, who sealed his move to North London on transfer deadline day from Real Madrid.
Having featured in both the Premier League and the Champions League for his new side, Ozil has already shown just how important he can be for the Gunners this season. It took him just over ten minutes to create Arsenal's first in their 3-1 victory over Sunderland last weekend, and Arsene Wenger described his new midfielder's performance as 'excellent' in the post-match press conference.
Speaking of Ozil and his move to London ahead of Arsenal's Premier League match this weekend, Wenger discussed Ozil's time in the English capital so far and why he thinks Ozil will only improve.
"He has integrated well, and been well accepted," said Arsenal's manager.
"I think he is not at the top physically yet. Overall we are very pleased to have him with us, but he will demand a bit of time to adjust to the vigorous body challenges he will face here in the Premier League.
"Once he has done that, he will be even stronger." (via Arsenal.com)
Wenger went on to mention that, despite being so young, Ozil has already had to deal with large amounts of pressure in his career for both club and country.
"He is 24, he has over 50 caps for Germany, and when you play for Germany, you are under a lot of pressure. He won the championship with Real Madrid, and that is a club where there is a lot of pressure."Arsenal fans will be eager to see how Ozil handles the Gunners' next test on Sunday as Stoke City visit the Emirates.
